Ekornes Stressless Consul Large Leather Recliner & Ottoman, Cognac — Made in Norway

The Ekornes Stressless Consul in cognac leather, confirmed by the maker's foil label reading EKORNES / ITEM NO. 11065/209341 / Made in Norway on the base frame. The high-back silhouette — with its contoured, softly peaked headrest and the characteristic chevron seam running the length of the backrest — places this squarely in the Consul model line, Ekornes's flagship high-back within the Classic base series. The patented glide-and-recline mechanism operates via the black disc-form adjustment wheel, embossed Stressless / Ekornes / Made in Norway, mounted at the junction of the seat and the curved laminated beech base supports. Leather-padded armrests cap those bent-laminate arm risers above the circular swivel platform. The matching ottoman repeats the C-form pedestal on its own ring foot, the two bases identical in finish and form.

Ekornes launched the Stressless line in 1971 out of Sykkylven, Norway, and the Consul has been among the most sustained models in the range. The Classic base — the laminated ring and sweeping C-supports seen here — is the original Stressless base profile, distinguishing earlier and mid-run production from the later Star and Signature bases introduced in subsequent decades. CONDITION

Very Good. Leather is supple with even color and sheen; a very minor section of wear on the seat surface is only detectable at close range. Swivel and recline mechanisms operate smoothly. No remarkable damage.
