Danish Modern Solid Teak Teardrop Base Floor Lamp with Integrated Table 1960s

An organic study in turned solid teak, this Danish Modern floor lamp reads as if the wood were extruded upward from a swollen teardrop base — a sculptural bulb that narrows into a slender stem, widens into a circular table shelf at seated height, then continues as a tall cylindrical post terminating in a brass fitter. The base is worked from solid timber rather than veneer or lamination, its warm grain moving in continuous ribbons around the bulb. The circular teak shelf sits at armchair height, sized to hold a book and a drink beside a favorite chair, making this both a light source and a piece of furniture.

The integrated lamp-table form was a staple of Danish production furniture exported widely to the United States during the 1960s and '70s, prized then and now for its dual function and its restrained, biomorphic profile. No maker's mark, stamp, or label is present, but the construction — solid-timber turning, the tapered stem, the teardrop foot — is consistent with Danish studio and production work of the period. The original cream conical fabric shade is included.

CONDITION

Very Good and fully functional; tested and working. The teak carries warm original patina with age-appropriate scuffing throughout. The teardrop base shows visible joint separation along the seams with a water mark at the bottom — a known and expected condition in solid teak that has spent time in an arid climate; the base remains sturdy. The shade grades Fair, with soiling and age wear.
