Lane Altavista Walnut Mid-Century Two-Tier Side Table with Drawer
A single-drawer, two-tier occasional table by Lane of Altavista, Virginia, the maker's ink stamp present inside the drawer. The floating rectangular top carries a raised lip and softly rounded corners over a slim apron, with tapered dowel legs splaying gently outward and a fixed lower display shelf. The drawer opens on wood runners with a dovetailed construction and a sculpted, recessed pull inlaid at center.
The piece dates to the American Mid-Century era, when Lane paired walnut veneers with solid framing for affordable, well-built casegoods. The two-tier format suits a sofa end or bedside, giving a closed drawer for small storage and an open shelf below for books or display.
CONDITION
Good with age-appropriate wear throughout. Scratches, scuffing, finish loss, and staining are present across the surfaces, with staining concentrated on the lower shelf and a pronounced chip at the top front corner. The rear right leg sits slightly short, producing a mild wobble.
