Sterling Silver 5-Light Convertible Candelabra by Duchin Creation
A weighted sterling silver candelabrum by Duchin Creation, marked "STERLING WEIGHTED" to the underside of the base. The turned column rises from a domed round foot ringed with a gadroon-and-bead border, echoed again at the collar and on the rim of each candle cup. Baluster knops break the stem into classical proportions, and the five bell-form cups sit on gently scrolled arms sweeping out from a central socket.
The piece separates into two sections: lift off the five-arm branch fitting and the base becomes a standalone single candlestick, giving two configurations from one form. Duchin Creation was a mid-century American sterling maker whose weighted holloware — filled with pitch or plaster over a sterling shell for stability — remains a familiar name on dinner and buffet tables.
CONDITION
Good. Bright polished surfaces with scattered light scratches and handling marks to the cups and arms; traces of red polishing/protective residue inside several sockets. We'll leave the final polishing to you.
