Sterling Silver Overlay Pink Depression Glass Console Set
A three-piece console set in soft pink Depression-era glass, each surface decorated with an applied sterling silver overlay in a floral and scrolling foliate pattern — dogwood-style blossoms, holly leaves, and dangling pendant motifs framed by silver band trim at the rims. The rolled-edge console bowl anchors the set, flanked by a matched pair of low candlesticks sized for taper candles, their fluted domes echoing the overlay design. The overlay is marked Sterling, with a maker's cartouche present on the bowl.
Silver-overlay glass had a strong run through the 1920s and 1930s, when firms applied fine sterling decoration to colored blanks for the console and dressing-table market. The pink glass reads warm against the darkened silver, and the low, spreading profile of the bowl paired with the flat candlesticks makes for a classic centerpiece grouping of the period.
CONDITION
Good overall with age-appropriate wear. The bowl has a 1/2" imperfection on the underside. Wear and loss to the silver overlay throughout, with rubbing and flaking to the raised motifs and rim bands. Glass is otherwise sound.
