Cory Buffet Queen Atomic Age Chrome Percolator Urn, Model AP32

The Cory Buffet Queen is a textbook piece of Atomic Age industrial design — a tapered chrome urn that looks like it belongs on a launch pad as much as a church-hall buffet table. The rocket-profile body narrows at the base and flares to a domed lid crowned with a two-tone finial; angular black bakelite handles project from the shoulders like stabilizer fins; and a triangular chrome-and-black spigot lever at the front dispenses without lifting the pot. A faceted red pilot jewel glows in the brass front plate below the raised CORY® Buffet Queen — Automatic Percolator nameplate. Manufactured by Cory Corporation, Chicago, Ill., and identified on the underside plate as Model AP32, rated 115V AC / 1000W.

Cory built these large-capacity urns for the reception circuit — receptions, office gatherings, PTA meetings, the kind of event where the coffee urn held court while the party organized itself around it. The interior shows the honest patina of regular use: darkening to the aluminum basin and percolator tube consistent with years of brewing. The Atomic Age silhouette — all thrust and chrome and jewel-lit drama — made even a Tuesday-morning meeting feel like it had a dress code. Tested and fully functional; the removable power cord seats slightly loose in the housing when attached but the unit operates correctly. Comes complete with cord.

CONDITION

Fair with honest signs of use throughout. Scuffing and age-appropriate wear across the chrome body, with water spotting on the exterior surface and darkening to the interior basin.
