Engel MR040F-U1 12/24V DC + AC Portable Fridge/Freezer, 40-Quart
A MR040F-U1 portable compressor fridge/freezer built by Sawafuji Electric Co., Ltd. under the Engel name — the swing-motor design that made these the standard for overlanders, fishing rigs, and off-grid touring. The gray steel body with red trim band houses a Danfoss-style swing compressor, ventilated on both ends for airflow, with molded black corner bumpers and a removable wire basket inside. Runs on AC 120V or DC 12/24V, switching automatically between sources, with a single dial temperature control marked from Cool through Freeze on the front panel.
Engel units earned their reputation on efficiency and durability — the swing-motor compressor draws less current than most rivals and tolerates the vibration and off-angle operation that comes with vehicle use. This one is tested and fully functional, cycling on both power inputs, and includes the AC power cord. Note the panel instruction: if the unit does not operate on DC, reverse the polarity of the supply.
CONDITION
Good and fully functional; tested and cooling on both AC and DC. Body shows scuffs, scratches, and chips throughout the gray panels, plus paint loss to the red trim band near the corners. One rubber corner leg is missing, and the interior basket shows discoloration.
